Description from the seller
"Between Earth and Ether - Barn Owl" by Federico Alibrio
Description of the work
"Between Earth and Ether - Barn Owl" (Tra Terra ed Etere) is a fascinating ceramic wall sculpture by the Sicilian master Federico Alibrio, as attested by the signature and the year inscribed directly on the back of the piece. The sculpture depicts a barn owl, a creature always linked to mystery, transition and nocturnal wisdom, here interpreted through a powerful duality of material and color.
The work thrives on a deep visual and philosophical contrast:
Earth: The body of the animal, characterized by dark, brown and deep tones, presents a rough, sunken texture that recalls tree bark or lava stone. It represents the earthly dimension, raw matter and rooting in nature.
Ether: In stark contrast, the owl's face emerges with a glossy, glassy glaze with delicate mint green and aquamarine tones. This color transition, fading into a vibrant blue on the chest, evokes the purity of the sky, the light of twilight and the spiritual dimension (the ether).
The immobile gaze and the essential and geometric features of the face confer the animal with a sacred, almost hieratic aura. With the artist's monogram impressed on the forehead, this piece is not a simple faunal representation, but a true visual talisman: a bridge stretched between the visible and the invisible, between the weight of the earth and the lightness of the spirit.
A unique contemporary artwork, perfect for collectors seeking pieces capable of uniting rich ceramic tradition with poetic and universal symbolism.
The piece, unique and original ceramic, was molded in clay and fired, subsequently ceramicized with glazes and special effects.
The work will be shipped with careful packaging and a related certificate of authenticity.
The Italian artist Federico Alibrio, born in 1995, is always in search of inspiration to grow with new experiences.
Graduated in Sculpture in 2021 from the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, he works with sculpture and painting. He has participated in and continues to participate in high-profile cultural exhibitions and symposia, demonstrating commitment and seriousness in tackling sculptural practice.
Reality itself is the greatest source of inspiration. His passions are: wildlife (sensitive to endangered species) and trees. His aim is to showcase the beauty of nature.
