Description from the seller
Rare Chiengsen Buddha, Thailand, circa 1930–1940
Very beautiful and rare Chiengsen Buddha in the Bhumisparsa Mudra (gesture of the Earth touch), seated on a richly perforated ornamental throne. The figure is finished in gold and iron-red and bears on the head the small locks with flame symbol (ushnisha) typical for this style.
The varying gildings and signs of wear are a testament to religious use and give the figure an authentic presence.
The Buddha dates from around 1930–1940 and was acquired by my father at an Asiatika auction.

* Height: 44.2 cm
* Width: 33.2 cm
