Anton Karssen (1845-2019) - Hartjes dag

Anton Karssen is a contemporary painter who draws inspiration from the old masters of the 19th century. One of his ancestors was Kasparus Karsen, a 19th-century painter who became best known for his sunny cityscapes.
Around his twenties, he was inspired by the Romantic school and produced ice- and cityscape paintings in the style of Leickert, Springer, and Schelfhout.
Later he also began to specialize in beach scenes; his major influences are Jan Zoetelief Tromp and B.J. Blommers.
His winter and beach scenes have been exhibited all over the world.
