Description from the seller
Vincent Lenaerts – WHY?
Why?
This artwork was born from a simple gaze, that of a polar bear, which seems to stop us to ask us one single question: why?
Why have we come to this?
Why so much indifference?
Why let disappear what can never be replaced?
I chose to approach as closely as possible to its gaze, to the point of almost erasing everything else. For it is not the landscapes that speak to us here, but its eyes.
They become a mirror in which everyone is free to find their own answer.
I did not want to merely paint a polar bear.
I wanted to paint a question.
A simple, universal question, that each of us experiences differently.
If, standing before this work, you feel the need to question yourself, then its gaze will already have begun to speak.
