Description from the seller
In this section we present a piece of great prestige and allure: a Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date in the highly sought emerald green color. A timepiece that fuses high sporty horology with a hypnotic naturalistic design.
This watch is Montblanc's first professional certified diver (ISO 6425), but it is best known for its revolutionary dial. The manufacture managed to reproduce the three-dimensional texture, the veins and the depth of glacial ice (inspired by the Mer de Glace on Mont Blanc) through a complex and ancient artisanal technique called gratté-boisé. The deep emerald green color captures the light, evoking the reflections of alpine lakes surrounded by glaciers.
The technical setup is impeccable. The 41 mm stainless steel case is topped by a unidirectional ceramic bezel in a two-tone green, glossy and scratch-resistant. The watch is water resistant to an impressive 30 ATM (300 meters) and the solid case back boasts a magnificent 3D laser-engraved illustration of a diver and an iceberg. Indices and hands are generously filled with Super-LumiNova for perfect legibility in the dark, as documented in the photographs. The heart is the automatic movement Caliber MB 24.17.
The condition is to be considered excellent overall. The watch has been preserved with extreme care. The sapphire crystal and the ceramic bezel insert are immaculate, without any marks. The steel case is bright and robust. On the bracelet and, especially, on the deployant clasp, there are only extremely rare, negligible, and almost imperceptible superficial hairlines due to careful handling of the item, which do not detract from its beauty. The engraved case back is also perfectly clear.
