Description from the seller
Oil portrait on canvas with added pieces worked with DAS
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milanese by birth and a Riminese by adoption. She approached art as a self-taught artist since 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, with which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, while later she approaches other mediums such as pastel and painting.
She participates in many group exhibitions across Italy and internationally. Her works are part of several private collections in the United States, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and Italy. She has exhibited in three solo shows: in the hall of the Municipal Theater of Montescudo (RN) in August, at the Galleria Arte e Vacanze in Punta Marina di Ravenna (RA) in September 2019, in the hall of the Priori Palace in Volterra in June 2023.
Laura's works are in continuous evolution toward an irresistible search for the meaning of the events of human life, the transformation they produce in our unconscious, and toward their memory, told and brought to the surface, through subtly surreal contexts and often symbolic. Her genre is figurative; indeed her works speak through portraits of people, who can be immersed in dreamlike landscapes and who can also speak and convey their true thoughts through the projection of their own shadow.
The medium she favors is oil painting, and she sometimes substitutes it with pastel.
She collaborates with writer Nadezhda Giorgieva Slavova for the creation of the cover of her poetry book entitled "Notturno" released at the end of July 2015.
Her painting “Temporal Suggestions” was chosen in 2023 by writer Vanessa Albus/Volker Haase (Ed.) for the book “philosophy autobiographical at school and university.”
Chosen together with nine other contemporary artists by the direction of the Premio Marchionni to create a work specifically for the exhibition “Piacere Non sono Io” at the Civic Museum Ruzittu of Arzachena – Olbia, to exhibit alongside great masters such as De Chirico, Magritte, Severini, and Sironi from 21 April to 23 July 2023.
Several awards obtained since 2021: Finalist for the Premio Marchionni in 2021-2022-2023 (the year 2023 also winning the prize for itinerant exhibitions) and finalist in 2024; Finalist for the Mestre painting prize in 2022 and in 2024 she receives a certificate of merit from the same prize in painting; winner of the Prisma Art Prize second prize in 2021 – winner of the Cash Prize at Malamegi Art Rome 2023 – Winner of the first prize in Painting at the competition “Where is the future” organized by the gallery “La Grande Bellezza di Volterra” in 2023 and in 2022 the 3rd prize in the competition “Where is Love.” – finalist in the painting section of Premio Marchionni 2024.
