Giuseppe Moricci (Florence, 1806 – 1879) was an Italian painter and draftsman, best known for his vivid depictions of daily life in nineteenth-century Florence. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, he produced paintings, watercolors and drawings depicting markets, trades, popular festivals and city views, offering a precious testimony of the city before the great urban transformations. Alongside genre scenes, he also tackled historical and Risorgimento subjects. His works are today conserved in important collections, including the Uffizi Galleries, and they constitute a significant artistic and historical document of nineteenth-century Florence.
