Ape Comedy. - With high-authority approval, the undersigned (...) has the honor to present his Ape Comedy in a large brilliant performance. (Frankfurt), printed by Heller and Rohm, ca. 1835. A single-sheet print with a large woodcut illustration (17 x 22 cm). Sheet size 41.5 x 22 cm.
Entertaining performance by the Augsburger Joseph Trede, who in several scenes has his trained apes perform tricks, including a restaurant scene with apes served by a dog. Jocko will display as rider of a billy-goat, tricks on the rope, and comical scenes with apes will also entertain the audience. Dogs and also a cockatoo will perform a few tricks as well. - The woodcut shows a menagerie scene: A tamer presents a jumping dog, on its back balances a costumed ape on one leg. - With horizontal folding.
