Description from the seller
There is a suspended instant where the water is still fresh, where the sun already warms the skin and where the day promises all freedoms. This silhouette seen from behind celebrates these small summer rituals that require no artifice to become unforgettable. An ode to simplicity, to light, and to the pleasure of disappearing for a few moments beneath the surface.
About the Summer light series: This series of contemporary figurative paintings where light becomes the true subject. Biography:
Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the path of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovers very early his first passion, music creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money intended to fund his higher studies in the creation of his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the expected success, but it marks the beginning of a richly experimental artistic career.
Alongside his musical career, Wags enters the advertising world as a designer/writer for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he puts his creativity at the service of the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Wags makes a radical choice to sell his agency in order to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who became a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted art creation, Wags stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
Wanting to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt who signs under this pseudonym so as not to interfere with his usual work.
This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and a modern glamorous aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez, and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work an atmosphere and treatment of light that are familiar to them.
