It is a memory.

Colors rise up like fragments of a place that has remained:
Light, heat, movement, the scents of earth and plants.
Nothing is fixed, everything is in motion.

Green, yellow and blue shift into one another.
Like days that flow into each other.
Like glances from the corner of the eye.
Like a sense of vastness that you cannot hold onto.

Croatia is not a motif here, but a state.
An inner image.
A resonance of nature, closeness, and timelessness.

The painting does not invite recognition,
but remembering.
Of something of one’s own.
Of a summer that still lies in the body.

About me:
"My painting moves at the border between figuration and abstraction — a tense dialogue of expressive gesture, intense color worlds, and intuitive dynamism.
Inspired by the energy of Abstract Expressionism, which moves between body and dissolution, chaos and harmony."

Lines break through surfaces.

Mila Veljac'a is a visual artist originally from Croatia. She studied at art academies in Croatia, Vienna, Salzburg, and Stuttgart, and for several years shared her expertise as a lecturer for visual arts.
