These illustrated magazines constitute a remarkable testimony to the Soviet graphic aesthetic of the late 1920s, at the crossroads of constructivism, modernist illustration and revolutionary pedagogy.
The covers feature dynamic typography and compositions characteristic of Soviet avant-garde applied to children's publishing:
- imagery of proletarian childhood,
- modernist graphic games,
- experimental layout,
- colors typical of late NEP Soviet print.
Soviet children's periodicals from this period are today especially sought after by collectors of:
- Russian constructivism,
- graphic design,
- Soviet illustration,
- historical avant-garde,
- history of childhood and education.
Original period copies.
Paperback formats.
Overall condition good to very good considering the usual fragility of 1920s Soviet paper; minor wear, creases and time traces in places.
Rare set and visually very attractive.
