Hidalgo (XX) - Still life with roses

Elegant and evocative floral still life depicting a bouquet of roses, oil on canvas-board stretched in the first half of the 20th century.
The work is signed in cursive at the bottom left, "Hidalgo", signature imprinted on the fresh paint.
The composition stands out for a tactile, vibrant brushwork with a clearly post-Impressionist imprint. The artist focuses the light on the central rose with delicate pink and orange hues, letting the carmine-red buds and emerald green foliage blend fluidly toward the background in warm brown-toned hues.
The back of the painting reveals an important historical detail: the stretched cardboard carries the original protective paper with the repeated monogram of the famous color-maker and art-supply factory "Fratelli Volo" of Turin, a historic brand attesting to the Italian origin of the support and dating the work (presumably between the 1930s and 1950s of the 20th century).
The painting is adorned with an important, shaped Baroque-style frame with rich decorations of scrolls and shells, entirely finished with a matte white lacquer that lends the overall piece a sophisticated decorative character.
