Large vintage golf display case measuring approximately 112 × 76 × 12 cm. This display case was assembled in the 1960s and brings together numerous vintage items related to golf and its history. It includes two antique golf clubs (approximately 100 cm and 97 cm), Features an original vintage Cliffco canvas golf bag (Made in England) with an authentic historic 'Green Fee Paid' tag from the Guildford Golf Club, the original “Players Please Replace Divots” sign, the official 1960 Open Championship programme from St Andrews, two vintage copies of the “Rules of Golf” published by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, a map of the famous Old Course at St Andrews, an original numbered “Visitor” plaque from Goodwood Golf Club, several vintage golf boxes including Spalding Wood Golf Tees, Stell’s Rubber Golf Stud “Mollusca”, Golf Tees and other period accessories, together with various documents, printed materials, illustrations and golf memorabilia connected with St Andrews and the history of the game.
Regarding the golf balls, I cannot confirm with certainty whether they are original vintage balls or vintage reproductions made before the 1960s. As the display case is completely sealed, I do not wish to open it because doing so could damage the display case itself. Please examine the photographs carefully and make your own assessment.
On the back of the display case there are six screws which, in my opinion, secure the golf clubs and the golf bag. These screws appear brighter than the rest of the construction and may have been replaced at some point in the past. The back panel also shows differences in colour visible in the photographs. I do not know the exact reason. This may be due to exposure to light, storage conditions or simply the natural ageing of the material over time.
