Description from the seller
Antique Tobias Silver Hunter Pocket Watch – Key-Wind – 23 Rubis Marked Movement
Antique silver hunter-case pocket watch with a white enamel dial signed “Tobias.” The watch features black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute scale, ornate gold-tone hands, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The overall appearance is highly decorative and typical of late 19th to early 20th century continental pocket watches made in the Tobias style.
The watch is housed in a silver hunter case with a finely patterned guilloché-style reverse and a plain central cartouche. The inner case shows silver markings, including 0.875, indicating a silver case. The case has attractive age-related patina, dark toning, surface scratches, tarnishing, and general wear consistent with age and use. The hinge and covers are present, though the case should be regarded as antique and handled carefully.
The inner dust cover is decorated and marked “Ancre ligne droite,” “Marque de la Maison,” “Aiguilles 23 Rubis,” with a cannon motif. The movement is visible through the back and appears complete, with ruby-coloured movement jewels and a traditional mechanical construction.
The watch requires a key to wind and set. No winding key is included. Because of this, the working condition cannot be fully verified. The movement appears visually complete and appears to be in working condition, but this has not been tested. The watch is therefore sold as an antique collectible item with unconfirmed functionality.
A decorative and collectible silver pocket watch with a Tobias-signed dial, hunter case, 23-rubis movement marking, and strong antique character. Suitable for collectors of antique pocket watches, silver watches, Tobias-style watches, or restoration projects.
