Bodegón clásico, an oil on canvas still life in the European Impressionist tradition from 1960–1970, originating in Europe and sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
Title: Classic Still Life
School: European Impressionist (20th century)
Style: Impressionism
Technique: Oil on canvas
Circle and artistic influence: Work created within the circle of European impressionist painting of the 20th century, with clear influences from traditional still lifes of the 17th and 18th centuries, especially Dutch and French schools. The composition combines interest in naturalistic representation of fruits, game, and everyday objects with a freer brushwork and a luminous atmosphere typical of impressionism, reinterpreting classical models through a modern sensibility.
Magnificent still life with abundant and balanced composition that brings together a carefully selected range of natural elements and domestic objects. At the center of the scene, a capon hangs suspended, accompanied by a basket full of lemons and branches with fruits. On the table are distributed a decorated ceramic container, a large blue glass vessel, an overturned bowl from which white grapes, apples, and other fruits overflow, as well as a cauliflower, pumpkins, mushrooms, and autumn leaves that add color richness and a variety of textures.
The work presents a warm palette of ochers, greens, and earth tones, contrasted by the intense blues of the vessel. The brushwork is loose yet precise, successfully conveying volume and depth through an adept play of light and shadow. The overall evokes the great game-laden European still lifes, reinterpreted under an impressionist language that brings freshness and spontaneity to the composition.
The work is presented in an elegant carved wooden frame with an aged gold finish and a classic profile. Its sober and refined design enhances the composition without diminishing its protagonism, harmonizing perfectly with the color range of the painting.
