Description from the seller
Traditional Hill Tribe Pipe from the Golden Triangle (Northern Thailand, 20th century)
A unique and authentic collector's item: a richly decorated traditional pipe from the 20th century, most likely from the Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand.
The object is made of silver-plated copper, and its entire surface is covered with intricate, hand-crafted filigree patterns, twisted wire decorations and floral motifs. The graceful articulation of the stem ends in a striking, spherical, rosette-shaped head, which bears the classic stylistic features of oriental metalwork. The head - which is the pipe's boiler - has a ventilation hole. Inside, the original sandalwood with a smoke channel is located, making the object fully functional.
The natural soot and silver patina visible on the pipe, as well as the fine wear resulting from use, faithfully reflect the age and history of the object, increasing its antique value.
Material: Silver-plated copper (on a brass/copper base)
Condition: Age-appropriate, patinated, in found (uncleaned) condition.
Size: length approx. 40 cm
Age: 20th century
