Aldo Borgonzoni (1913-2004) - Mia madre

This intimate and rare drawing represents a study steeped in deep emotional sensitivity, depicting the mother of the renowned Italian realist painter Aldo Borgonzoni. Regarded as one of the leading exponents of expressionism and figurative realism of the twentieth century, Borgonzoni placed the maternal figure at the center of his early artistic successes. It was with an oil painting titled My Mother that the artist officially debuted in 1936 at the V Interprovincial Exhibition of the Fascist Fine Arts Syndicate in Bologna.
