Two lipstick cases in 800 silver from Italy, dating to the 1940s–1950s, each with a red or blue cabochon and Deco-inspired engraving, the red cabochon possibly serving as a scroll button and the blue with vertical guilloché lines; measurements 5 cm high by 1.5 cm square, used and empty of lipstick.
Description from the seller
A very special lot consisting of two silver 800 lipstick cases from the 1940s or 1950s, true vintage jewels. The one with the red stone features a more fluid engraving, almost natural-inspired or floral/geometric Deco (with zigzag motifs and heathers/leaves). It has a red cabochon at the base that serves as a sliding button or simply as decoration. The lipstick case with the blue stone has a finely geometric finish with vertical parallel lines (guilloché or rigadin), typical of the Deco period and the 1940s. The cabochon is a deep blue (reminiscent of lapis lazuli or sapphire). They have both been used and no longer contain lipstick.
