BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST:
The Catalan painter based in Godella, Alfonso Ortuño (Barcelona, 1925 - Godella 2011), who perfected his technique at the Circulo de Bellas Artes, traveled to Valencia at the age of ten and began painting from a very young age.
Ortuño was a contemporary of painters such as Bronchú from Godella, Mir, Segrelles, or Berenguer, and belonged to a generation of artists who began with Impressionism and evolved into their own distinctive style.
The work of Alfonso Ortuño, although it went through a grayer period, in his mature phase color became the main protagonist. The spatula was his brush in many of his works, in his landscapes, his rainy scenes, seascapes, portraits, or still lifes, and he painted Mediterranean scenes inspired by his feelings.
