Sensational work by the Vallisoletan Lorenzo Colomo in acrylic on board. This work is a synthesis of geometric and linear-trend strokes, which somehow unites Symbolist Cubism and Abstract Expressionism. The author lets his philosophical and existential line run free and offers us an extraordinary juxtaposition of tones and shapes.
Lorenzo Colomo (Valdenegro de los Valles, Valladolid, 1950 – 2023)
Lorenzo Colomo Argüello was a plastic artist and gallery owner from Valladolid; he held his first exhibition in 1972. Throughout his career, his work evolved from Expressionism toward lyrical and conceptual abstraction. He claimed to create painting that conveys concepts, as he was not interested in trends and avoided the elitist image of art. For Lorenzo Colomo, “plastic arts should provide philosophical calm and knowledge for the human being.”
With more than thirty solo exhibitions to his credit, he has also received numerous awards. His work was selected in multiple national competitions, such as the Barcelona Biennial, the Cuenca Biennial of Abstract Art, and the Zamora Biennial. He also participated in various group exhibitions, and his work has been shown at fairs such as ARCO, Arcale, ArteSevilla, Arte Santander, Art Jaén, or Art Madrid, being recognized with awards such as the “Grape Cluster Prize” in Painting in 2005.
