Yves Decaudan's Un été dans les cyclades, an acrylic painting on canvas 80 × 80 cm, hand-signed, 2026, original edition, Fauvist style, in excellent condition, delivered with a certificate of authenticity directly from the artist.
Description from the seller
Summer scene painting "A Summer in the Cyclades" - 2026
The painting succeeds in synthesizing the essence of vacations in Greece: summer laziness, contemplation, heat, and the search for shade. The choice to paint the figure from behind invites the viewer to identify with him and project his own gaze toward the distant horizon of the Aegean Sea.
A dark silhouette seen from behind, a woman with black hair, is seated in an armchair. She wears a green garment and seems settled on a terrace or balcony. To her right, one can glimpse the corner of a coffee table. The terrace floor is bathed in a very bright light, almost white or rosy, onto which the green and graphic shadows of the surrounding foliage are projected.
The work wholly fits into a modern aesthetic that strongly recalls Fauvism and the work of artists such as Henri Matisse or David Hockney.
The handling of shadow and light is central: the artist does not paint light directly, he suggests it through the striking contrast between the dazzling whiteness of the floor and the darkness of the shadows cast by the vegetation. The viewer is placed at the heart of this cool shadow zone, looking toward the bright exterior.
Painting by Breton artist Yves Decaudan, born in 1954.
Delivered with certificate of authenticity, directly from the studio, original.
Acrylic on cotton canvas, wooden stretcher, unframed, 80 x 80 cm
Shipping and packing in a painting carton.
