Description from the seller
Splendid and imposing vintage set consisting of a rare giant pocket/desk clock model "Goliath" and its original contemporaneous travel case. Clock: Giant model "Goliath" (Diameter 85 mm, thickness 25 mm). Robust brass case. White enamel dial with large black Roman numerals and a subsidiary dial for the small seconds at 9 o’clock. Antique time-setting system via a lateral push-button (pin-set) positioned at 1 o’clock, typical of models produced before 1910. Movement: Swiss manual-wind mechanical with anchor escapement (Swiss Lever), visible through the rear case back with an open-view glass. Movement in working order, featuring technical adjustment indicators Avance/Retard. Large power reserve. Case: Original square rigid case (Dimensions: 10.5 x 10.5 x 4 cm) covered in burgundy leather, with protective soft velvet interior and a circular front opening for the display of the desk clock. The hinge and brass snap closure bear the prestigious patent mark of the German Empire D.R.G.M. (Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster), attesting to production around the late 19th to early 20th century. Conditions and notes: The clock is functioning. The enamel dial shows some subtle and classic surface hairlines (time cracks) visible in macro photos. The outer leather of the case shows beautiful natural vintage wear from travel, preserving its charm. Inside the case is a historic note of complete revision (Révision) carried out on 27 January 2000 by a master watchmaker in Reconvilier (Canton Bern), a precious testament to the care given to the item. International tracked and fully insured shipping with professional super-protective packaging.
