Description from the seller

Fascinating and rare 16th-century volume (Cinquecentina) printed in Lyon in 1566 at the renowned type-foundry of Jacopo Giunta's heirs (Apud heredes Jacobi Iunta), adorned with the distinctive Florentine lily on the title page.
The volume constitutes Tomus Tertius (Third Volume) of a collection and contains the 14 books of Aristotle's Metaphysics in the historic and authoritative Latin translation by Cardinal Bessarion (Bessarion Cardinal Nicene interpreter), followed by Teophraisto's Metaphysics book.
A piece of great interest for antique philosophy collectors, historians of Renaissance printing, or as a prestigious study and restoration volume.
Collation and Physical Details
• Total pages: The volume comprises 583 pages numbered/typeset and presents 13 overall blank pages (fly leaves, ancient endpapers).
• Ownership notes: On the title page and on the endpapers there are ancient possession notes, contemporary or slightly later, handwritten in ink (including a very clear "Ad usum Jacobi Cavalli"), which attest to the history and provenance of the volume.
Condition (From Study/Restoration)
The book is sold in the condition visible in the photos, consistent with a volume of 460 years that requires consolidation work:
• Binding: Ancient, in full soft parchment, very worn, with evident gaps and tears on the spine and partial detachment of the cover.
• Interior: Presence of a noticeable beetle hole piercing through the pages near the inner margin close to the stitching (as in the photo).
• Pages: Generally solid sheets but with widespread water stains, damp halos, and partial discolorations of time. An ancient ink doodle partially covers the date on the title page.
