Description:
For sale, a magnificent and important French sterling silver soup tureen by the celebrated silversmith Maison Odiot, Paris.
This is a museum-quality piece from one of France’s oldest and most prestigious silver houses, silversmith to kings and emperors since 1690.
Details:
- Maker: Maison Odiot, Paris. Signed ODIOT A PARIS and 60.
- Period: Mid to late 19th Century, Louis XV / Louis Philippe style.
- Material: French 1st Standard Silver, 950/1000, marked with Minerva head.
- Weight: 2748 grams total, including original fitted liner/insert.
- Dimensions: Approx. 33 cm handle to handle x 23 cm wide x 20 cm high.
- Provenance: Engraved with a noble coat of arms and motto AUDACTER ET SINCERE "Boldly and Sincerely". Helmet, griffin, roses, and stag heads.
- Condition: Excellent antique condition. No dents or repairs. Beautifully polished, liner fits perfectly. Minor surface scratches consistent with age.
