Description from the seller
Jacques Sokol (20th century) – Toward the Basque Coast (1982) – Signed oil on canvas
Beautiful original oil on canvas by the painter Jacques Sokol, titled “Vers la Côte Basque,” created in 1982.
This composition depicts a lively marina of sailing boats moving in a peaceful bay, dominated by a coastal village in warm tones. The artist skillfully captures the luminous atmosphere of the Basque coast thanks to a subtle palette of blues, ochres and reds, applied in a free brushwork inspired by Impressionism.
The artwork captivates with its balance, its depth and the quality of its light, characteristic of Jacques Sokol’s work.
The canvas is signed at the bottom right and bears on the reverse its handwritten title “Vers la Côte Basque” as well as the inscription “J. Sokol / 82,” attesting to its creation in 1982.
It is presented in its elegant gold wooden frame, which perfectly enhances the painting.
Height: 27 cm
Width: 35 cm
“ No Monet, No Renoir, No Degas, No Cézanne, No Matisse, No Gauguin, No Courbet ”
