The works of the painting cycle “Donna” are a scenographic and symbolic representation of the woman, seen both through the eyes of an artist and through the eyes of a man.
With these paintings one aims to represent the woman beyond society’s stereotypes: her essence, her humanity, her fragility and, at the same time, her strength.
The color choice, in its monochromatic, slightly grayish tone, is intended to convey a sense of mystery, of lived experience and/or memory.
The veil that envelops the woman has multiple meanings: the part that gently wraps her body is pink, almost merging with her own skin; while the remaining part of it aims to represent, through its tension, the influence of the social stereotype of a strong, emancipated, beautiful and slender woman.
The title of the work is intended to aid understanding by using adjectives or nouns linked to its aim of humanizing it and grasping its essence.
