Description from the seller

Fascinating and powerful oil painting on canvas by the renowned contemporary master Antonio Sciacca, entitled "Momento Eterno" and dated 2016.
The painting deftly fits the classic theme of Memento Mori and Vanitas, reinterpreted with the artist's extraordinary chromatic sensibility and unmistakable stylistic signature. The work depicts two skeletal figures reclining, clad in sumptuous ecclesiastical and ceremonial robes in vivid colors (deep purple, antique pink, gold, with finely decorated details). The contrast between the dramatic death and the opulence of the vestments creates a hypnotic visual tension, typical of the artist's existential reflections on time, the transience of life, and the eternity of art.
The use of light, the tactile layering of color (especially visible in the details of the headdresses and garments), and the ethereal neutral-toned background confer a strong three-dimensionality and a nearly sculptural solemnity to the figures.

The work is in excellent overall condition. The canvas is well stretched on its original wooden frame. The colors are vivid, saturated, and perfectly preserved. Ready to be hung and displayed.

Antonio Sciacca is an artist of international standing, known for his erudite painterly references and for having exhibited in important venues (including the Venice Biennale) and for the historical regard and esteem he has earned from great critics such as Alberto Burri and respected by prominent art historians. His works dedicated to the themes of Vanitas and the masters of the past are among the most sought after by the contemporary art market and collectors.
