Description from the seller
Jacques Selosse – Brut Rosé – NV – 75 cl – Domaine Jacques Selosse – in original presentation box – disgorged 6 August 2024.
Storage and provenance:
This bottle has been stored since purchase in a temperature‑controlled EuroCave wine cabinet at around 12–13°C, as shown in the photos. The bottle has been kept horizontally alongside other top Champagne, and in some cases further protected by plastic wrap, ensuring professional‑level, stable storage conditions for long‑term ageing.
Wine critic ratings:
Jacques Selosse Brut Rosé is one of the most acclaimed and sought‑after rosé Champagnes, regularly receiving mid‑ to high‑90s scores from leading critics.
- Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: around 95–96/100 – described as “an utterly electrifying wine… simply drop‑dead gorgeous,” with great energy, delineation and minerality.
- Other specialist reviewers have rated it up to 98/100, calling it one of the greatest rosé Champagnes produced, with extraordinary depth and gastronomic character.
Producer and cuvée:
Domaine Jacques Selosse, led by Anselme Selosse, is a cult grower‑producer in Avize, renowned for terroir‑driven, oak‑aged Champagnes and very small production. The Brut Rosé is one of the domaine’s rarest and most distinctive cuvées, combining Selosse’s intense, vinous style with the complexity and colour of a rosé Champagne.
Vintage base, disgorgement and style (this bottle):
According to the NFC traceability information on this bottle, it is a Jacques Selosse Champagne Brut Rosé, 75 cl, 12.5% vol., with major base year 2018. The disgorgement date is 2024‑08‑06, making this a very recent release with long lees ageing prior to disgorgement. The dosage for this particular bottle is just 1.33 g/L, placing it far below typical Brut levels and giving it a very dry, precise and tension‑driven profile.
Technical profile of the cuvée:
Jacques Selosse Brut Rosé is a non‑vintage rosé Champagne, classed as Brut, generally based on Avize Chardonnay blended with a portion of Pinot Noir from top crus. Bottles typically spend several years on lees before late disgorgement, which contributes to the wine’s depth, texture and ageing capacity. In combination with the very low dosage on this bottle, the result is a Champagne of great tension, mineral precision and gastronomic character.
Condition and packaging (this bottle):
The lot includes one 75 cl bottle in the distinctive frosted‑glass Jacques Selosse Rosé bottle, with silver capsule and “Jacques Selosse” neck band, showing a deep salmon‑orange colour. The bottle is accompanied by its original Domaine Jacques Selosse presentation box featuring the tree‑and‑roots motif, making it highly attractive for collectors. Labels, glass and capsule appear clean and intact with only minimal handling traces, consistent with careful, climate‑controlled storage.
Drinking window and collectability:
Thanks to its long ageing on lees, extremely low dosage and concentrated base wines, Jacques Selosse Brut Rosé offers powerful, vinous character, intense minerality and great length. It is already superb to drink now but has the structure to evolve further over the coming years, making this bottle both a thrilling drinking experience and a rare collector’s item from one of Champagne’s most sought‑after grower‑producers.
Shipping and handling:
As I care deeply about the storage and wellbeing of my wines, shipping will be handled with particular attention. I am happy to agree with the buyer, after the auction closes, on the optimal shipping date and method, taking into account weather conditions and transit times.
The bottle will be securely packed in a sturdy carton with ample protective material to prevent movement and impact. During warmer periods I can arrange insulated packaging and cooling elements to help maintain a stable temperature in transit, and we can opt for an express service to minimise time in transit.
Happy Bidding!
