Description from the seller
Antique porcelain perfume bottle with chinoiserie decor – France, c. 1820-1850
Beautiful antique porcelain perfume bottle or scent flacon, made in France, presumably Vieux Paris (Porcelaine de Paris), dating from the first half of the 19th century.
The bottle has an elegant, faceted square form and is made of white porcelain with rich gilded decorations.
The original porcelain stopper features a hand-painted depiction of Oriental figures in chinoiserie style, a beloved decorative motif within French porcelain production from this period.
Similar uncolored and unmarked Vieux Paris perfume bottles from the mid-19th century are known.
The shoulders are adorned all around with finely applied gilded leaf and floral motifs, while the stopper is finished with gold accents as well. The bottle still retains its original stopper.
