Description from the seller
ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD EXISTS - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan revisits the sacred theme of the Virgin and Child by substituting Grogu—the “Child” from The Mandalorian, aka Baby Yoda—for the Infant Jesus. Sitting on the clouds, draped in pink and blue, crowned by a radiant sun, the Madonna tenderly holds the little green creature against her, while a cloud of winged cherubs surrounds them. The round painting is set in a gilded frame adorned with sculpted putti; a cartouche bears the signature “メドサン” (Medsan).
The visual force of the composition lies in its painterly treatment that imitates Baroque religious painting: soft flesh tones, ample drapery, downward golden light, and little angels in the Raphael/Murillo style. The antique workmanship, even including craquelure and a trompe-l'oeil frame, lends the scene the solemnity of a devotional altarpiece.
The impact of the work rests on the irreverent tenderness of the détournement: the most endearing figure in pop culture elevated to the rank of sacred Child, guarded by the Madonna and the angels. Medsan overlays Christian iconography with galactic myth in an image that is as gentle as it is mischievous.
A pictorial piece, gilded and full of wit, ideal for adding a classic, pop, and decisively original touch to a collector’s interior — a favorite for lovers of sacred art as well as of pop culture.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists brought together around living, multifaceted contemporary creation. Established as a real center of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective oeuvre with cinematic and realist influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive approach, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
