With this vertically formatted work, Medsan elevates Pikachu, the most famous of the Pokémon, to the rank of sacred figure in a mosaic in the Byzantine style. Haloed by a golden aureole, clad in the tunic and mantle of antiquity, surrounded by large red and blue wings, the little electric creature blesses with the right hand, its tail in lightning upright behind it. An inscription in a cartouche bears the signature « メドサン » (Medsan).

The visual strength of the composition lies in its perfect imitation of late antique Christian mosaics: myriad of gold tesserae, draped elements composed of blue and red fragments, an aureole and geometric friezes worthy of the basilicas of Ravenna or Constantinople. The sparkling gold background gives the whole piece a sacred solemnity.
