A citadel crowned by a great tree and suspended from its rocky roots drifts in a rosy sky, while the blue surf unfurls its crests below and Mount Fuji points on the horizon. The cartouche bears the signature « メドサン » (Medsan).

The visual force of the composition lies in its ukiyo-e print language: flat indigo blues, clear outlines, foaming claws, and a decorative border, all in the soft palette of an old poster.
