Description from the seller
Rare complete collection of the works of Cesare Arici (1782–1836), Brescia-born poet among the most representative of Italian classicism in the nineteenth century. A complete four-volume edition published in Padua in 1858 by Coi Tipi del Seminario, prepared by the author's heirs.
The work gathers Arici's poetic and literary production, including poems, tragedies, religious and civil compositions, letters and various writings, offering a significant testimony of the Italian literary culture of the 19th century.
A four-volume exemplar, bound in half-leather with marbled boards, spines with title and numbering impressed in gold. Preserves contemporaneous bindings.
Conditions: good overall. Signs of aging and use on the bindings with abrasions, wear to the spines and headcaps. Interiors complete, with normal browning and sporadic foxing. Presence of ownership stamps of the Collegio San Stefano di Recanati on the half-titles. No in-depth check of the collation; sold as shown in the photographs.
An interesting nineteenth-century edition destined for collectors of Italian literature, old books, and works from the Risorgimento period.
