Gonçalo REIS, also known as “GONGAS,” is a young, talented Lisbon-born artist from Portugal.
Born in 2001, he is the son of the iconic graffiti artist Nomen and has been immersed in the street art world his whole life. Raised among influential figures such as Nomen, YOUTHONE, Utopia, Ram, etc..., Gonçalo’s work is deeply shaped by the vibrant graffiti culture in Portugal.
His unique style stands out with distinctive textures, splashes, and effects that characterize each of his works, making them one-of-a-kind. Each piece is hand-signed by the artist on the front and back, with the creation date, further reinforcing the personal touch that GONGAS brings to every creation.
Gonçalo’s true goal as an artist is to design unique and expressive pieces that elevate the spaces they occupy. When you buy a work of his, you’re not just purchasing a painting – you’re bringing home something truly special, as every piece is entirely unique.
Interestingly, GONGAS began his artistic journey in late 2021, at only 20 years old. Contrary to what one might expect, his early works weren’t paintings but decorative wall clocks. Keen to stand out, Gonçalo first created epoxy resin clocks with abstract designs. He quickly moved on to spray-painted clocks, before discovering his passion for canvas painting in February 2022.
Driven by a desire to progress, Gonçalo began selling his art at markets and local fairs across Portugal.
The overwhelmingly positive responses from customers encouraged him to move to online sales, and in just three years he has created and sold more than 800 paintings to buyers in 32 countries, marking his impressive rise as an artist on the world art scene.
