In praise of composure

Welcome. This work, which I chose to title "In praise of composure", is my manifesto of correctness and honesty.

In a time of chaos and constant exposure, I wanted to celebrate the capacity of the human soul to shape itself and remain integral. The woman you see is the embodiment of this ideal: her posture is not rigidity, but a choice. Her attire, with its clear contrast between the warmth of red and the severity of black, represents the boundary between inner passion and outward discipline.

I have transformed nature into sculpture to remind you that beauty is born from pruning the superfluous. Here, the human being and the landscape share the same fate: both have been “educated” toward a geometric perfection that makes them eternal and untouchable by time.

The deep meaning of this work is that composure is the supreme form of freedom. Staying composed means owning oneself, refusing to let the world destroy us, and guarding one’s own mystery behind a gaze that observes everything without yielding to anything. It is an invitation to rediscover one’s center of gravity – one’s regal firmness – in a world that has lost its sense of measure.

Welcome to my gallery. I was born in Puglia, among the light and sea of Salento, landscapes that have nourished my sensitivity since childhood. My passion for painting was forged through rigorous self-taught study, a physical dialogue with the medium that led me to choose oil as my primary language. It is a soft, luminous, and patient technique; it taught me the balance between the instinct of the first brushstroke and slow reflection, until the work itself speaks to me and tells me when to stop. If once my starting point was figurative art anchored in reality, since then my vision has evolved into metamorphosis. The roots of classical figurative art evolve into the freedom of the symbol, where the unconscious surfaces on the canvas. My artistic evolution has been a gradual shift from form aesthetics to the aesthetics of feeling. If once my goal was fidelity to reality, today it is fidelity to emotion. In my current works, technique blends with dreamlike atmospheres, giving life to subjects that inhabit a suspended time, in constant balance between the solidity of the past and the vertigo of the surreal. My unwavering fascination with the female figure – a mysterious, gentle, and sometimes scandalous creature – remains the beating heart of my work, though it has now moved toward deeper and more surreal territories. The women I paint no longer belong exclusively to the present or the past; they live on a threshold where the body becomes a symbol and the everyday becomes an enigma beyond time and space. Each work is an anthem to the feminine spirit, understood as a multi-form universe oscillating between reality and dream.
