Collection of the theological works of Saint Fulgenzius of Ruspe (c. 467-533), African bishop of Ruspe (present-day Tunisia), one of the most important Church Fathers of the VI century.
Fulgenzio, a profound expert in Greek and a zealous defender of Nicene orthodoxy, is known as the “little Augustine” or the “Abbreviated Augustine” for his fidelity to Augustine’s doctrines. The volume includes:

- Treatises against Arianism (including the three books against the Vandal king Trasamund and the replies to Arian objections).
- Writings on grace, predestination, the Trinity and faith.
- Letters, sermons and exegetical works (such as Ad Monimum, De Fide, etc.).

These works are fundamental for the study of African patristic theology, the struggle against Arian heresy under Vandal rule, and the transmission of Augustine’s thought in the early Middle Ages.

This is one of the seventeenth-century editions of Fulgenzio’s works, edited by Bishop Paolo Naldini, with the author’s life, indices and critical apparatus. The ancient complete editions of Fulgenzio are rarely found on the antiquarian market.

Feature of this copy: many parts of the text still uncut (untrimmed pages), an extremely rare characteristic for a 17th-century volume that preserves the original margins in their entirety and makes it valuable to collectors and libraries.

Good condition, wormholes (woodworm holes) along the top edge of the volume for its full length, in places slightly affecting the marginal text. Contemporary leather binding in board, typical of the period.
