Description from the seller
Magnificent and characterful religious statue cast in plaster (stucco), depicting Christ the King combined with the symbolism of the Sacred Heart.
Unlike traditional crucifixion images, Jesus here stands triumphantly and blessing before the cross with arms outstretched (the Resurrection). On his chest he bears the Sacred Heart. Nevertheless the stigmata (crucifixion wounds) on the hands and feet, as well as the drops of blood from the crown of thorns on the forehead, are subtly applied with red paint. Behind his head there is a gold-coloured radiant halo.
The statue is polychrome-painted and equipped with beautiful golden accents on the clothing and the cross. On the rear at the base the model number '332' is engraved, referring to the original foundry design.
Period: ca. 1920 - 1930 (Interwar)
Material: Gypsum / Stucco (polychrome painted)
Height: 50 cm
Origin: Probably Belgium or France
Condition:
In good, original condition with a very beautiful patina of age. No later restorations or overpaint. There are some light, age-related paint wear spots and minuscule chips visible which are inherent to the material and contribute to the authentic character of the object. See the photos for an accurate impression.
The statue is very carefully and securely packaged and insured shipped with track & trace.
