Description from the seller
As a designer, I have developed a sensitivity. To the Moon and Back is an oil on canvas created in 2020, during a period of intensive artistic research devoted to large-scale figurative portraiture.
Influenced by the universe of David Hockney and by the aesthetics of fashion photography, I stage characters with assertive attitudes in compositions where color plays a central role. Hands tinted blue, mauve, yellow or green constitute a recurrent element of my work. They introduce a symbolic and spiritual dimension, creating a deliberately troubling contrast with the realism of the figures.
Both an artistic gesture, a power of creation, and an instrument for realizing dreams, these hands occupy an ambiguous role: seemingly secondary, they often become the true subject of the work.
This painting belongs to a series of about ten paintings created in 2020 around this same meditation on color, identity and representation.
I am a French designer and painter. Through large-format oil painting, I explore the links between contemporary figuration, color and symbolism, with particular attention to the presence of the body and the expressive strength of the hands.
