Description from the seller

MIRANDULA (Octavianus / Ottavio Mirandola)
[Viridarium illustrium poetarum cum ipsorum concordantiis in alphabetica tabula accuratissime contentis]

Complete, [62], 227, [1] p.

Rare original edition of 1507 of this highly sought-after humanist florilegium from the early days of printing, printed by a renowned Venetian workshop: Viridarium Illustrium Poetarum (the Garden of Illustrious Poets) is a foremost humanist poetic anthology compiled by Octavianus Mirandula (Ottavio Mirandola), regular canon of the Lateran.

This monumental work gathers and classifies the finest passages, maxims, and excerpts from classical and humanist poets, facilitating study and reuse thanks to a meticulous alphabetical table. The copy features an elegant typographic title page framed or marked with a heraldic/religious vignette (editorial-type cross with monograms), characteristic of early 16th-century humanist productions.

Also noticeable on the versos and flyleaves are provenance marks, including an engraved ex-libris ("Collection of Danuta Zarzycka-Figiel") and a manuscript note documenting the provenance of the succession.

A fine copy in an era leather-and-paper binding well established (epidermures and wear to the spine and at the tips, corners rubbed). Interior fresh despite light foxing or browning scattered consistent with the age of the paper. Copy complete with its quires structure and its final justification ("Cum Gratia & Privilegio").
