Nino Gobbis faesite panel, wood, 70 × 24 cm, dating to 1950–1960, in good used condition with minor signs of age and stains, originating from Veneto, Montebelluna, Italy, in a Mid-Century Modern style.
Description from the seller
Nino Gobbis panel, relief on faesite.
This 70 x 24 panel is part of the ORO series that was intended for a collection of furniture in which the panels stood out from the minimalist mahogany furniture.
The panel uses a mixed decorative technique—gold leaf and acrylic—to give greater emphasis to the carved figures.
Nino Gobbis used faesite panels as support, which allow precise lines and uniform areas and are durable with the sgorbio (gouge).
The piece testifies to a period when Arreda di Celotto's furniture, with these inserts, embodied the furnishings of the era.
The object is in perfect condition despite its 70 years.
Gobbis collaborated with Arreda di Celotto, which in the 1950s produced furnishings designed by famous Italian architects and designers such as Piero Celotto, commissioning decorative panels by artists like Nino Gobbis to furnish bourgeois homes, offices, hotels, or cruise ships.
Nino Gobbis, Italian painter and printmaker active in the mid-20th century, whose figure is deeply linked to the world of author interior design and Trevigiano mid-century modernism of the 1950s and 1960s.
