Gitana con chitarra, oil on panel, period 1950–1960, Italy, 24 by 18 cm, portrait, hand-signed.
Description from the seller
Carlo Borri 1952, a self-taught Neapolitan painter already present in bourgeois salons and Neapolitan galleries, has always stood out for his inspiration and the aim to pay homage to the glorious school of Neapolitan masters of the 19th century.
Oil on panel, hand-signed in the lower left corner.
The painting frames a seated woman who plays the guitar, captured in a spontaneous and natural moment; there are no precise contour lines, but the figure takes shape thanks to swift brushstrokes and a beautiful play of light and shadow.
Of great interest is the almost abstract effect of the costume, resolved with touches of pink and green directly on the panel, which give movement and liveliness to the whole scene.
