Boemia Calice - Vase - Crystal

This large crystal vase is Bohemian crystal. It is made with the complex Molato glass technique (amber flashed, cut to clear).
The amber-colored surface is expertly removed to reveal the underlying crystal, enriched by a meticulous re-engraving in silver dioxide / acid engraving.
The decoration develops around a central geometric Oriental figure, framed and accentuated by elegant and graceful floral-like volutes.
The shape of the glass and the finish are inspired by the eighteenth-century Biedermeier style, referring to the famous 'glasses of friendship' that were in fashion between 1830 and 1840.
