Statue, Putto in attesa - 21 cm - Walnut

Sculpture for table-top or shelf decoration depicting a reclining putto with very lively drapery; on the lower plane a beautiful grotesque mask with a shell motif.
The work can be traced to the Venetian workshop of Valentino Panciera Besarel, a sculptor active in Venice in the second half of the nineteenth century and renowned for the naturalistic flair of his carved compositions.
Made in carved walnut wood, a material common for Venetian production of that period.
Good overall condition, with small signs of aging consistent with the era.
