Description from the seller
For sale: a unique, museum-class sport artifact – the original leather boxing pears (reflex) from the legendary German manufacturer Kaspar Berg, dating to the early 20th century.
Kaspar Berg is absolute class and a synonym for the highest craftsmanship. It was this company that supplied official equipment for the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, and from its heritage the footwear divisions of the later founder of Adidas grew.
The item is preserved in its original, authentic vintage condition. Made from an exceptionally thick natural leather, with traditional, strong saddlery stitches and a distinctive, rugged top-fastening lacing. The leather bears a beautiful natural patina that gives this century-old item its unique character.
The authenticity of this pear has been confirmed directly by the current owner of Kaspar Berg via email. The buyer will receive full access to the official factory correspondence, which constitutes indisputable proof of originality and dramatically increases the collectible value of this specimen.
Country of origin: Germany
Manufacturer: Kaspar Berg (Germany)
Period: Early 20th century (about 100 years ago)
Material: 100% natural thick cowhide
Condition: Original vintage. The leather is intact, stitches are strong. Condition as in the photos.
Dimensions: Height of the pear itself 41 cm, height of the pear with the cord 88 cm
Base width of the pear: 22 cm
Weight: 4.90 kg
The item has not undergone modern, invasive refurbishment, thus retaining 100% of its historical value. Inside there is the original, aged bladder (due to age, it is treated solely as an exhibit element).
Exceptionally original vintage condition. The leather bears natural patina, signs of years of use, and historical cracking. On one of the side panels there is a darker layer – these are the original, age-related traces of resin/rosin used by boxers at the beginning of the 20th century to improve grip. These authentic historical traces give the item an incredible, rugged character and serve as a physical testament to its history. At the bottom of the pear is a well-preserved, clear, embossed BERG logo.
Shipping: by courier.
