Garden of Echoes by Devon (1993), an original 2026 acrylic painting with oil pastel on canvas from the United Kingdom, in Naive Art style, 60 × 40 cm, signed, depicting animals in a dreamlike imagined landscape.
Description from the seller
In Garden of Echoes, Devon constructs an imagined landscape where flowers become memories rather than botanical studies. Executed in acrylic and oil pastel, the composition unfolds across a rich green field populated by simplified blossoms, flowing stems and gestural marks that evoke the spontaneous language of dreams.
The painting resists realism in favour of rhythm and emotion. Cream and ochre flowers drift across the surface alongside deep magenta blooms, while looping pastel lines weave an almost musical cadence through the composition. Each mark feels instinctive, creating a delicate balance between order and improvisation.
Drawing from contemporary abstraction while retaining echoes of decorative arts and naïve painting, Devon celebrates the expressive potential of colour and gesture. The work invites the viewer to wander rather than decode, encouraging a slow exploration of recurring forms and subtle relationships between positive and negative space.
The result is a garden that exists beyond season or geography, one shaped by recollection, intuition and feeling rather than observation. Vibrant yet contemplative, Garden of Echoes offers a poetic meditation on nature as an emotional landscape.
