Description from the seller
Josep Lluís Arimany (Barcelona 1923-1999) was a renowned Catalan physician and painter. His style is naturalist and realist, with great technical resources based on a masterful command of drawing. He mainly deals with portraiture and the figure, especially the female. He also works in general painting and still lifes, occasionally incorporating abstract painting. In his final period, his mystical work stands out.
The technique used by Arimany, principally, was oil on canvas and paper.
His work is preserved in private collections in Europe and the United States. He worked on commissions for the chapel of the Santo Cristo in the Basilica of Montserrat and the Hospital de Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona. One of his mystical works has been requested by the Vatican Sacred Art Museum.
The work we are concerned with is a sleeping female figure, within an interior. The dimensions of the work are: 50x61 cm (without frame) and with frame 72x82 cm.
Signed in the lower right corner, by hand and in oil.
It is in good condition; the frame shows some small wear or breakage.
It is sent with the frame, but there is the option to send without the frame, in packaging with maximum protection.
