Nataline Pomar presents Botijo Naturaleza viva, a unique 2023 handmade clay earthenware botijo signed by the artist, 25 cm wide, 35 cm high, 25 cm deep, weighing 2 kg, with beige, red, yellow and blue colours, from Spain and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
It is a porous clay vessel used to cool water, with a rounded belly, a handle on the top, a mouth on one side for filling with water, and on the opposite side a spout for drinking.
It is a piece handmade and hand-painted "in the shape of a man" with organic, fluid, and fresh forms in bright, intense primary colors.
It is a piece intended for contemplation. Although it could be used and filled with water, its appearance would change, since the porous material makes the clay sweat and darken in the damp area.
The botijo, far from being an invention exclusively Spanish or Iberian, has deep roots in antiquity, extending from the Near East to the Iberian Peninsula. Its creation stems from observation and the need to keep liquids cool in dry climates. Throughout history, various cultures adopted this ingenious invention, demonstrating its universal value and its enduring legacy in the history of humanity. It would be the closest thing today to fridge-cold water.
It is shipped in a well-protected box with bubble wrap and with an authenticity certificate.
