In the auction, one of the most exclusive and imposing realizations of the art publishing house FMR (Marilena Ferrari), conceived to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. This is the artwork and editorial project named "Italia Cristiana", presented here in its configuration of maximum completeness, absolutely rare to find on the secondary market in this state of preservation.
THE LOT INCLUDES 3 INSEPARABLE ELEMENTS:
1. The Monumental Volume "Italia. Beauty and Faith":
Dimensions and Pages: Majestic closed format of 31 x 43.5 x 6.4 cm, consisting of 416 pages.
Materials: Cover in exquisitely blue leather, dyed to match the edition, specially produced for this edition at the historic bookbinding workshop "L'Arte del Libro" in Todi, with impressions and inscriptions in gold leaf on the spine with cords and on the boards.
Paper and Printing: Printed on GardaPat 13 Klassica 150-gram paper produced by Cartiere del Garda. The texts (in Bembo and Trajan fonts) are impressed with special inks at the printing house of Lamberto Pigini in Loreto.
The Sculpture / Bas-relief "Immortal Memory" by Andrea Mariconti:
Characteristics: Full-round sculpture originally conceived by master Andrea Mariconti. A monumental metallic bas-relief of 28.5 x 40 cm depicting a pair of peacocks (Paleo-Christian symbol of resurrection) in front of the profile of a building inspired by early Christian architecture.
Technique: Made using earth casting, silvered and patinated entirely by hand at the artistic foundry of Giuseppe Belotti in Erbusco.
Mounting: The piece is mounted on a solid and spectacular original display structure in transparent self-supporting Plexiglas. It bears the signature of master Mariconti, the FMR logo, and the edition number.
3. The Set of 3 Grand Art Engravings "Italia - Engravings":
Gorgeous blue-dyed hardcover folder stamped in gold with the FMR initials, containing three magnificent off-text art prints of very large format, protected by editorial tissue papers, depicting three historical views of Italy as explicitly indicated and certified in the colophon:
