David Law
Photographer and creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to a art book published in 2021. Then drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern and contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
