Citrus Reverie is a 2026 oil painting on canvas by Ukrainian artist Oleg Sharapanovsky (b. 1964), in an original edition still life, measuring 30 × 30 cm, signed and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
In Citrus Reverie, Ukrainian artist Oleg Sharapavovsky captures the fleeting vitality of a floral arrangement through an expressive language of colour and gesture. A bouquet of lilac blossoms and golden flowers rises from a deep blue vessel, accompanied by the vibrant presence of a freshly cut grapefruit whose luminous flesh introduces a striking chromatic accent.
Executed with the artist's characteristic palette knife technique, the composition is built from rich layers of oil paint that celebrate the physicality of the medium. Thick passages of violet, rose, emerald and ochre interact with soft neutral tones, allowing the surface to shimmer with movement and changing light. Every mark remains visible, preserving the spontaneity of the artist's hand.
The still life balances energy with tranquillity. The airy bouquet contrasts beautifully with the weight of the ceramic vase, while the grapefruit provides both visual balance and symbolic freshness, evoking themes of abundance, renewal and the quiet rituals of everyday life.
Rooted in the tradition of European floral painting yet unmistakably contemporary, Citrus Reverie demonstrates Sharapavovsky's ability to transform familiar subjects into emotionally resonant compositions through colour, texture and atmosphere.
